On behalf of the Gilbertsville Elementary School’s Home and School Association, every year we sponsor an event at our school called “Community Reader Day,” in which we ask members of our community to volunteer approximately 30 minutes to serve as a guest reader in one of our classrooms. For those of you who have read in the past, thank you very much!

We truly enjoy partnering with the community to promote the importance of reading as a lifelong skill, as well as to create a sense of community awareness among our children. It is our hope that you could join us in celebrating Dr. Seuss’s birthday on March 2, 2018, to help the children discover the importance of reading in any career. You will find that students love having special readers in their classrooms!

There are time slots available in Kindergarten through 5th grade in both the morning and afternoon classes. You may request a particular teacher or grade if you wish, however, not all requests may be met depending on classroom schedules. Feel free to bring one of your favorite books to read or request a particular book from our GES library ahead of time. A selection of books will be available when you check in if you need some suggestions. Please email brooke@kernfam.com with your time preference by February 14.

If you have any questions, please feel free to give Brooke Kern a call at 610-570-0411 or send an email. We hope that you will consider being a part of GES’ 2018 Community Reader Day.
