Pennsylvania State Police is hosting a Citizens’ Police Academy

The Pennsylvania State Police will be hosting a Citizens’ Police Academy (CPA) in the Berks County area at the Pennsylvania State Police Reading station, 600 Kenhorst Blvd., Reading, PA 19611. The program will expand citizens’ knowledge and understanding of the law and explore police procedure from the perspective of the Pennsylvania State Police. The Citizens’ Police Academy involves approximately 20 hours of instruction taught in 2 hour segments.

The program is scheduled to begin March 6 and end May 8. Participants meet each Wednesday night for 10 weeks from 6:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. Students must attend 75 percent or more of the scheduled classes in order to be eligible to graduate and receive a certificate.

Class size is limited to allow greater interaction between students and instructors. Citizens are selected from interested applicants. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to apply and be a resident of Pennsylvania.

Applications can be picked up at the PA State Police Reading station located at 600 Kenhorst Blvd., Reading, PA 19611 or applicants can e-mail megrichard@pa.gov to request an electronic e-mail application.

Deadline for application submission will be Friday, Feb. 23.
