A vehicle went out of control on a snow and ice covered roadway, colliding head on with another vehicle, killing a passenger and injuring both drivers in Ruscombmanor Township on Jan. 30.
State Police at Reading report that the crash occurred in the 3400 block of Pricetown Road (Route 12) in Ruscombmanor Township at 10:03 p.m. on Jan. 30.
Nikolas Hilbert, 19, Orwigsburg, was driving west on Route 12, negotiating a left curve when he lost control of his vehicle on the snow and ice covered roadway. His vehicle traveled into the oncoming lane of travel, striking a vehicle head on.
Driver Danilo Ramos, 23, Reading, had to be extricated from the vehicle and was transported to Reading Hospital with moderate injuries. The passenger, Franklin Sudler, 23, Reading, died at the scene as the result of injuries sustained in the crash, according to police.
Hilbert sustained minor injuries.
Pricetown Road was closed in both directions from Route 73 to Walnuttown Road for about four hours.
Police report that the investigation remains open.
