EXETER >> A Pottstown man has been charged after police say that found thousands of dollars worth of drugs during a traffic stop.

Demetrius Dante Wilkerson, 25, of Pottstown was arrested Thursday when police say they found over $10,000 in cash along with large quantities of drugs worth more than $11,000.

Police had been conducting speed enforcement on Perkiomen Avenue (Route 422) near Hartline Drive Thursday when they stopped a vehicle heading westbound at around 6 p.m. When police made contact with the driver, later identified as Wilkerson, the officer found evidence that there were drugs in the vehicle, according to authorities.

After further investigation, police found that the driver had allegedly been transporting large amounts of crystal methamphetamine, crack cocaine and marijuana. Officers also found that he was in possession of more than $10,000 in cash.

Wilkerson was subsequently arrested and charged with manufacture, delivery or possession with intent, possession of marijuana and use or possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arraigned on Feb. 2 before District Judge Steven Chieffo and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Feb. 7 before District Judge Sandra Fegley.

He was unable to post the set $200,000 cash bail and is being held at Berks County Prison.
