The Heritage of Green Hills, in Shillington, will present local actress and singer, Runette Gabrielle, portraying Harriet Tubman in a one-woman show at the community at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 8.

The performance will be followed by a buffet lunch at approximately noon. The performance and lunch are open to the public. Harriet Tubman was one of the biggest legends of the Civil War. She was a Southern slave who escaped to the North but went back to the South time and time again to guide other slaves to their freedom. Gabrielle has researched and portrays Tubman with well documented facts and a strong soprano voice. For 40 years, she was a soprano soloist at Christ Episcopal Church in Reading.

Gabrielle was a long-time nurse administrator at Reading Hospital and Hamburg Center. She got her nursing degree from Hahnemann Hospital in Philadelphia and her master’s degree from Temple University. She has served on the boards of the Reading Symphony Orchestra, the Family Guidance Center, Friends of Music at Albright College and the Berks Intercultural Alliance.
