AMITY >> A 36-year-old township man is facing multiple sexual abuse charges connected to his alleged abuse of a 13-year-old girl.
The Berks County District Attorney’s office obtained an arrest warrant Thursday for Paul Michael Ewing on nine charges related to sexual abuse of a minor.
The investigation began on Jan. 25 when the D.A.’s child abuse detectives received a report of suspected child abuse involving a 14-year-old victim, according to a press release.
The victim was interviewed at the Children’s Alliance Center in Reading and she told investigators “Ewing had sexually assaulted her on numerous occasions since she was 13 years of age,” police said.
Detectives interviewed Ewing and “obtained a confession from the defendant admitting that he sexually assaulted the victim several times, and that he was aware that the victim was 13 years old when the sexual assaults occurred,” police said.
District Justice Steven Chieffo issued a warrant for Ewing’s arrest on the following charges: two charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse forcible compulsion and victim younger than 16; two charges of aggravated indecent assault, forcible compulsion and victim younger than 16; intimidation, retaliation or obstruction of child abuse cases; corruption of minors; endangering the welfare of children; two charges of indecent assault, forcible compulsion and victim younger than 16 and indecent exposure.
Ewing, of 54A Greentree House, surrendered himself to Berks County Detectives at their offices in Reading and is awaiting arraignment in the Berks County Sheriff’s Central Processing Center.
