Friday and Saturday, March 2 and 3, will mark the 19th year for a spring tradition at Salem Church EC, Lenhartsville: their spring yard sale.

The event is held rain or shine in the church’s gymnasium, located at their facility, 2150 Old 22, midway between Hamburg and Lenhartsville.

The sale will be open to the public from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.

Typically, people line up outside to enter the sale on Friday morning; the doors are unlocked at 8 a.m. A short walk down the main hallway leads bargain-hunters to the gym, which will be packed with clothing, household goods, books, collectibles, toys, games and decor.

Food will be sold on both days. A new offering this year will be freshly-made, hot breakfast sandwiches. The church’s Mothers of Faith group, a study and support group for moms and their preschoolers, will host a baked goods table. Also for sale will be homemade soups made by members of the church and available by the bowl or in to-go containers.

All items for the annual yard sale are donated, and this allows low price points for pieces. New this year will be the way clothing is priced. Instead of marking each piece individually, shoppers can fill bags for a set dollar amount.

Organizers have spent weeks prior to the sale sorting through donations. They ensure electronics are in working order and that used items are in good condition. Donations from the community are accepted, although mattresses, computers and televisions are not. To arrange a donation, contact the church office at 610-562-5033 by Monday, Feb. 26.

All proceeds benefit local ministries as well as Salem Church’s programs like Time Out, a free night for kids one Friday a month, and Centershot archery classes. The church also has active small groups and church-wide activities and, of course, a weekly Sunday worship service at 9 a.m. and Sunday school for all ages at 10:30 a.m.

Mothers of Faith is open to the public and will meet on Feb. 23, March 9 and March 23 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church. The next Time Out will be Friday, March 16.

Newcomers are always welcome at all Salem events.
