Fleetwood Area High School is putting on a production of “Bye Bye Birdie,” this musical season.

“Bye Bye Birdie” tells the story of Conrad Birdie (played by Shawn Bessey), a Rock and Roll singer visiting the small town of Sweet Apple, Ohio, before he is drafted into the Army. His music manager, Albert (played by Avery Millisock) and his secretary Rosie (played by Hannah Reiniger), attempting to capitalize on this event by getting him on the Ed Sullivan show for a final performance, which includes a goodbye kiss with a fan Kim MacAfee (played by Elise Eggleston). Complications arise when the Sweet Apple, Ohio parents and teens are turned upside down by the appearance of Conrad, Albert, Rosie, and the idea of international fame.

The students and production staff of Fleetwood Area High School have been working tirelessly to construct sets, collect costumes, and provide an entertaining performance for all.

Fleetwood’s production of “Bye Bye Birdie” will be performed on March 15 at 7 p.m. (Free Show for Senior Citizens), March 16 and 17 at 7 p.m., and March 18 at 2 p.m.
