St. Luke Lutheran Church, 35 Wilson Ave., Gilbertsville, will host the presentation “Keysstrong: Conch-ering Irma” by a member of the congregation.
Bob Ballantyne, a retired Boyertown High School teacher and an avid fly fisherman, and his son, Scott, are presenting a program at St. Luke on Saturday, March 17, at 7 p.m.
The program is not so much about fly fishing, as it is about a recent trip to the Florida Keys, and what they experienced in respect to the local folks repairing and “rebounding” from Hurricane Irma.
Bob has also been fly fishing for the past 16 years in the lower Florida Keys. The presentation on March 17 lets us “visit” with Bob and Scott in January 2018, when they went fishing, and observed lingering destruction from Hurricane Irma. They also saw the work of the Conchs (as the “locals” call themselves), in bringing the Keys “back to life.”
The program is called “Keysstrong: Conch-ering Irma.” It’s certain to be not only interesting, but inspirational.
Following the program in the sanctuary, join us in Memorial Hall for fellowship and refreshments by Nancy Ballantyne.
In the past, Bob gave a 2013 presentation, “Nature’s Cathedral,” a powerpoint presentation about fly fishing in Yellowstone National Park.
St. Luke Church invites the public join them in the sanctuary to hear the presentation.
