West Chester >> A diverse team of individuals, organizations and governmental entities have joined together to launch a campaign to house 100 homeless veterans within the next 100 days. This effort began Thursday and will conclude on June 8.
“This is the fifth 100-day campaign to house homeless veterans, and each has been remarkably successful,” said Dale Gravett, Executive Director of the Housing Authority of Chester County. “Three of the prior initiatives actually exceeded the goal of finding permanent housing for 100 homeless veterans.”
An effort such as this can only succeed through hard work and tireless efforts from a team of many dedicated individuals. This partnership includes the Coatesville Veterans Affairs Medical Center in; the Department of Housing and Urban Development; the Housing Authority of Chester County; Supportive Services for Veteran Families; Veterans Multi-Service Center; Chester County Department of Community Development; the Veterans Affairs Office of Chester County; Catholic Social Services and from many other hard working individuals.
This 100-day campaign has been launched to intensify the speed at which homeless veterans receive permanent housing. Such efforts have provided a positive push and created much needed momentum in helping to reach the national goal of ending veteran homelessness in the United States Here in Chester County these targeted 100 day efforts are making a substantial impact to achieving the lofty goal of providing permanent housing to all of our veterans.
“As we begin this new initiative, the team wishes to deliver a special thank you to the many landlords in Chester County who have worked with us to house veterans in our previous campaigns,” added Gravett. “Not only have they increased the supply of available units, but they have worked very hard to ensure that the homes are affordable. We look forward to working side by side with the landlord community in this new effort to help end veteran homelessness in Chester County.”
