Fire crews responded to a house fire on Hill Road in Maidencreek Township on Feb. 26 at 7 a.m. which claimed the lives of nearly a dozen pets. A firefighter was reported to have been injured after falling through a floor while battling the fire.
Responding were Blandon Fire Department, Walnuttown Fire Company, Temple Fire Company, Fleetwood Fire Company, Kutztown Fire Company Truck Crew, Ruscombmanor Fire Company, Alsace Manor Fire Company, Township of Spring Fire Rescue Services, Mt. Penn Fire Company, Shillington Fire Company, Community Fire Company of Virginville, Goodwill Fire Co. 10, Union Fire Company #1 of Leesport, and Northern Berks Emergency Medical Services.
The cause is under investigation.
