The “Rosie the Riveter” Spirit of ’45 statue recently arrived at the Berks Military History Museum in Mohnton. The statute will be on display at the museum in the middle of a newly installed garden that will feature unique roses once the weather gets warmer.

The Rosie the Riveter garden is located directly behind the museum adjacent to the Mohnton Memorial Park.

The statute is one of only two like it in the nation. It is on loan for the month from the Spirit of 45 Foundation.

Inside the museum are period artifacts from the domestic industrial war effort. The 20 million Rosie’s worked in WWII factories. Berks Military History Museum President Rep. Mark Gillen’s mom Concetta Gillen was one. She worked in Philadelphia wartime factories during WWII.

Memorial rose gardens are being planted all over the nation to memorialize that effort. The Berks Military History Museum Rosie the Riveter Garden is the first in Pennsylvania.

A rescheduled dedication of the garden is March 24 at 2:30 p.m.
