POTTSTOWN >> Pottstown knows that there’s no one more important to a community than its children.

That’s why for the 12th year, Pottstown is celebrating kids with their annual community event, Pottstown Celebrates Young Children, along with the YMCA Healthy Kids Day on April 21. The event, which will be held at Pottstown High School from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., is designed for families with young children.

The Pottstown Early Action for Kindergarten Readiness or PEAK, Pottstown School District’s school readiness initiative, is partnering once again with Pottstown YMCA and the Pottstown Parks & Recreation Department to offer fun, family-friendly activities and resources from more than 85 community organizations. Family entertainment will include a Quiver Farm petting zoo, bounce houses, Wacky Patti creating balloon art and a variety of other family-friendly entertainment. The YMCA will also be providing an obstacle course and other fun fitness activities.

This year, PEAK has partnered with 7-Eleven to sponsor the event.

“The generous donations such as those of 7-Eleven and our other sponsors make this day a success,” said Valerie Jackson, PEAK coordinator. “PEAK is about partnerships and this event is truly a partnership venture to bring the community together for the benefit of our families and children.”

Other sponsors for this event include Pottstown Hospital Tower Health, Wawa store #8040, Costco, Giant and Wegmans of Collegeville.

Free food and beverages will also be available for families as they visit the various tables of organizations. In addition to providing information about their organization, the tables will be filled with activities and giveaways for both children and families to enjoy. Organizations in attendance will include Coventry Mall, Olivet Boys & Girls Club, ACLAMO, Pottstown Family Center, Pottstown FARM, Pottstown Police Athletic League (PAL), 422 SportsPlex, Health Partners Plans, Steel River Playhouse, Montgomery County Intermediate Unit and many more.
