The Boyertown Area Choral Association went to the movies to draw inspiration for the start of its 28th season. “Movie Tunes: Songs Made Famous through Film from the 1930s to the Present” is the theme for this year’s spring concerts. On Sunday, April 29, at 3 p.m. the chorus will sing at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1749 S. Main Street, Bechtelsville. The concert in Boyertown will be held the following week on Sunday, May 6, at 3 p.m. at The Good Shepherd United Church of Christ, located at 35 W. Philadelphia Avenue.

Classical cinema fans and modern-day moviegoers alike will enjoy the variety of music presented by the 50-member choir. From the light-hearted “Singin’ in the Rain” to the more profound “The Sound of Silence,” the group offers a pleasing selection of songs. Some of the tunes, like “Over the Rainbow,” were made famous by the movie in which they were featured, while others, like “Eye of the Tiger,” were hits before they were included in a film’s soundtrack.

BACA is directed by Boyertown alumni Donna M. House and Donna Jean Marshall, while piano accompaniment is provided by Robin Ward. Both concerts are free and open to the public. Receptions with light refreshments will follow both performances.
