Two members of the Twin Valley High School Band have recently earned the right to perform with a State Music ensemble. Senior Maeve Bartra earned a seat in the PMEA All-State Concert Band, and Sophomore Reid Simmons earned a place in the PMEA All-State Wind Ensemble. Miss Bartra and Mr. Simmons both play the trumpet.
Both students went through a rigorous audition and re-audition process that took five months to finish. The end results were certainly well worth the effort. The first set of auditions took place in December 2017, where both students earned a place in the PMEA District 10 Band. While at that festival, held at Easton High School in January, students re-auditioned and both Maeve and Reid advanced to PMEA Region V Band held at Middletown High School in February. During the Region V Band Festival, students once again re-auditioned for a position in the All-State Band.
Congratulations to both students on their outstanding achievements! Miss Bartra will be attending West Chester University in the fall, majoring in music education. Mr. Simmons will be auditioning for a position within the All-East Music Festival later this spring. We wish both of you the best of luck!
