On April 18 the Twin Valley Rotary club was proud to honor Twin Valley High School senior Sarah Shugar and junior Kyle Mazur as their students of the month. The presentation was made at their weekly meeting. Sarah and Kyle were honored for their participation in extra-curricular activities and outstanding academic achievement.

Sarah Shugar is excited to be attending Franklin and Marshall College this fall. Sarah has been heavily involved in extracurricular activities during her four years at Twin Valley High School. Sarah has participated in Robeson Heroes throughout her junior and senior year. Additionally, she has been involved in the National Art Honor Society all four years of her high school career, serving as the public relation chair her sophomore year, treasurer her junior year, and treasurer/secretary her senior year. Sarah has also been heavily involved in the Technology Student Association, serving as secretary her junior year, and president her senior year. Sarah also serves as tutor chair to Twin Valley’s chapter of the National Honor Society. NHS has provided her with many opportunities to serve her community. Sarah is also heavily involved in the arts through Twin Valley and her community. She has been a part of the select chorus and serves as the co-activities chair to the Theater Arts Club. In the community, Sarah has participated in the Junior and Senior Berks County Chorus. She has also been involved in the annual school musical for the past four years. Sarah is delighted to take on the role of Jane in this year’s production of Tarzan. Sarah is truly grateful for all of the opportunities for which Twin Valley has provided.

Kyle Mazur has been involved in many different enriching activities with his time at Twin Valley High School. Along with taking advantage of the numerous honors and AP classes offered at Twin Valley, Kyle has been able to surround himself with a variety of different after school activities. Playing soccer has been one of the most enjoyable things for Kyle, but he emphasizes how being a part of Twin Valley’s spectacular music program has been a major part of his academic career in the High School. Along with the music program Kyle has taken the opportunity to be a part of a couple of Twin Valley’s musicals as an after school activity. Not only has he found great excitement and joy during the musical season, but Kyle has found it challenging and invigorating to travel to different worlds in The Wizard of Oz, and the jungles of Africa as Tarzan. Kyle has found that the most inspirational part of Twin Valley is the amazing community that has been created by the people within the school. His teachers have made it fun and exhilarating to learn, and his peers have given support and love throughout the years. Other extracurricular activities include the wonderful LINK program that is formed and orchestrated by faculty and students from Twin Valley High School. Kyle has had the delightful opportunity to be a participant and a leader in the program which brings together a large variety of teenagers in all different groups and extracurricular activities in order to show initiation, leadership, and acceptance among all students and peers throughout Twin Valley. Through the LINK program, Kyle has been able to make a difference in the learning environment and community in Twin Valley. For Kyle, Twin Valley has been a welcoming home for furthering his education and growing in the community with bonds both with his peers and teachers.
