The Kutztown Community Choir will present its annual Spring Concert on Sunday, May 20, at 7 p.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, 357 W. Main St., Kutztown.

“The Kutztown Community Choir is made up of about 60 folks who like to get together with friends and sing. Our members come from Kutztown and many other area communities: Topton, Fleetwood, Blandon, Mertztown, and Kempton, to name a few,” said director, Mike Barron.

This year’s concert, “Springtime Across the Land,” will include a wonderful collection of lively music that is sure to lift your spirits and set your toes a tappin’.

“I chose music for the upcoming concert to represent a wide variety of musical styles: country, jazz, swing, folk, rock,” said Barron. “Many of the pieces have an association with a particular area of the United States: maybe New York, California, the Rockies, or the Old West; hence ‘Springtime Across the Land.'”

Our choral selections will take you on a journey across our land, from tunes of Broadway to Rocky Mountain High and California Dreamin. Featured pieces include a medley of ever popular John Denver songs, a few pieces by the Mamas and the Papas, and the beloved folk song “This Land is Your Land.”

“I hope that the audience enjoys this music as presented by their family and friends after months of rehearsal,” said Barron. “Maybe they’ll hear a song that they haven’t heard for a while and enjoy it all over again. And, I hope they leave the concert with a greater appreciation of American music variety.”

The annual Spring Concert is a great time to greet the return of warm weather along with other music lovers in our community and enjoy an evening that is sure to entertain and delight.
