First Reformed UCC in Hamburg hosted May the Fourth Be With You family night on May 4.

The auditorium was full of “Star Wars” fans and young Jedis. Members and friends of the church came from their galaxies far, far away to join in the May the Fourth Be With You celebration. They enjoyed “Star Wars” snacks and beverages: Yoda Soda, Luke Skywater, Hans Rolos, Thermal Detonators (cheese balls), Ewok Treats (Teddy Grahams), and Galactic City Treats (various treats loved throughout the galaxy).

“Star Wars”-themed crafts included BB-8s made out of Styrofoam balls and Light Sabers made from pool noodles.

Since it was also Kentucky Derby day, the Jedis made horses, also made out of pool noodles. So, of course, the first, First Reformed Derby had to be held with about a dozen horses and Jedi jockeys racing for the win.

The night ended with a “Star Wars” Scavenger Hunt for character decals placed throughout the auditorium.

The evening was packed full of fun and laughter. The Force was felt by all and as Yoda would say, “Good time it was!”
