The second annual Pottstown GoFourth! Festival will be held on July 4, and to reach its money goal, the festival’s committee has created a new event.

The Pottstown GoFourth! Royal Court is now open to 2017 Homecoming Kings and Queens from Pottstown, Pottsgrove, Owen J. Roberts, Boyertown and Spring-Ford high schools. Participants must raise money through their own fundraising ventures. All funds are to be handed in by the end of the business day June 29 at VIST bank, 258 E. High St., Pottstown.

The King and Queen who bring in the most money will be named the Pottstown GoFourth! King and Queen. The second highest-earning King will be named the Prince, and the second highest-earning Queen will be named the Princess.

All members of the GoFourth! Royal Court will have the opportunity to ride in the 4th of July Parade, which is hosted and sponsored by the Pottstown Rotary Club.

Court members will be crowned on stage at the Pottstown GoFourth! Festival on July 4, before the fireworks display. They will also receive two passes for VIP/reserved seating at the fireworks show and a Pottstown GoFourth! Festival gift bag.

All participants receive a Pottstown GoFourth! Festival T-shirt.

Participants are invited to an information session on Monday, May 14, at 7 p.m. at the Audio Room of Pottstown High School.

Pottstown students are behind the effort. The committee is looking for the other school districts to back it as well.
