The 7th annual Band Together to Fight Breast Cancer event will held in Fleetwood on June 23.

Band Together to Fight Breast Cancer in Fleetwood is a free event with bands, food, more than 25 vendors, activities for kids, and a silent auction. All proceeds benefit Breast Cancer Support Services of Berks County; Band Together as raised more than $40,000 for BCSS. Crave Press author David J. Reimer, Sr., Leesport, will sign copies of his book Courage Over Cancer at the Band Together event in Fleetwood on June 23, from noon to 7 p.m.

Courage Over Cancer combines uplifting and encouraging quotes with powerful images of lions representing the emotional and physical effects of cancer treatment. This lightsome yet powerful photographic journey of courage in the face of fear and despair is meant to support and inspire a positive attitude that will lead the way toward healing and recovery. Proceeds from the sale of the book benefit patient programs and cancer research.

Reimer is also the author of Craft and Micro-Distilleries in the US and Canada, and he is working on two other books. He works in information technology at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania (KU) and is an accomplished journalist and photographer. His articles and photos has appeared in his local newspapers, in professional and consumer publications, and in textbooks. Reimer graduated from KU in 1988 with a B.S. Telecommunications.
