The Leesport Summer Playground Program returned Monday July 9 after a lengthy hiatus, but there’s no break in the number of activities on this years’ 5-week schedule.
T-shirt painting, water balloon baseball, bingo, and free play were just a few of the events that took place on opening day. Upcoming events include canvas and rock painting, scavenger hunts, field games, and a variety of craft projects. Also planned are weekly trips to Fun Fridays at the pool pavilion, to the Schuylkill Valley Community Library, and to the Leesport Pool.
“This is great for the kids”, said Program Coordinator Tiffany Rollman of Hamburg. “I’m so glad to be part of this”, she added.
Playground Staffers Tyler Siglin and Jess Zeiner, both of Leesport, echoed Tiffany’s remarks and added, “You can tell the kids had a lot of fun today.”
Overseen by the Leesport Borough Recreation Board, the 2018 Summer Playground Program takes place on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. It’s open to all Leesport area youth between the ages of 6 to 12. There is a small fee to participate.
