Hop on the Allentown and Auburn Railroad with the Kutztown Community Library on Aug. 4.

The library is hosting a fundraiser in partnership with the railroad. Travel goes on a four-mile journey from Kutztown to Topton, PA and back. Participants are able to choose from one of four themed rides, all of which include a stop at the picnic grove.

The Lunch Express runs at 11 a.m. and includes a hot dog, chips, ice cream and a drink. Ice Cream Express runs at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. and includes an ice cream and a drink. The Dessert Express runs at 7 p.m. and features a dessert and drinks with Americana-folk music by Nathan Hertzog. There is a charge for tickets. Children ages 2 and under ride free.

During the afternoon, Usborne Book’s will host a Story Time in one train car. Attendees will be able to shop Usborne’s book fair at the station. A portion of the books from the sale will be donated to the library.

“In light of recent funding cuts, our library needs the financial support of our community. This day on the rails is a delightful way of ensuring the continuation of our fabulous programming for all ages,” said Cathy Ruhf, KCL Board President.

Rain or shine, the train will run on the scheduled day and times.

To enquire about tickets, call the Kutztown Community Library at 610-683-5820.
