A Thrivent Action Team at Robeson Lutheran Church hosted a project to build a new “Little Free Library” on Plow Road in Mohnton.

Building the Library took place in June and installation culminated on July 6. A Grand Opening will take place on Aug. 7 at the National Night Outd at 6 p.m. at Robeson Lutheran Church, Route 10 and Plow Road, Mohnton.

Four of Thrivent Financial Benefit members, Charlotte and Greg Gehman, Keith Gehman and Ben McCormick, helped build the library over the past month and installed it on July 6.

This event was hosted by a Thrivent Action Team, a local group led by a member of Thrivent Financial. Thrivent Action Teams allow members to quickly identify a need, receive resources and put a plan together to help others in their community. The mission of Thrivent is to serve members and society by guiding both to be wise with money and live generously.

“Little Free Libraries are a global phenomenon. The small, front-yard book exchanges number 60,000 around the world in 80 countries – from Iceland to Tasmania to Pakistan. Now, a new Little Free Library on Plow Road in Plowville will join the movement to share books, bring people together and create communities of readers,” said Bonnie Lauer, a member with Thrivent Financial, who sponsored the project. “We’re proud to be able to serve our local community and are grateful for Thrivent’s support.”

Thrivent Action Teams are member-led projects – fundraisers, one-time service activities or educational events – that can be completed within 90 days. To learn more about Thrivent Action Teams visit Thrivent.com/ActionTeam.
