On a beautiful July 14 evening in Honey Brook, a patriotic theme was featured in the borough’s annual summer bocce ball tournament.
The Stars And Stripes was the winning team and they showed their true colors in victory, flying high above the rest with star power. They had two tough games in the finals against the Firecrackers, which set off a lot of sparks with an amazing effort that got the crowd fired up.
The Firecrackers lit an early fuse with some smoking plays, but were quenched by the champions. The final two teams were so evenly matched that no more than one point was obtained on each turn of 8 throws. Third place went to the Yankee Doodles who were dandy enough to earn medals.
It was a great evening of fun, food, fellowship and bocce ball. The next tournament is for teams of four on Sept. 22. Information is available from the borough office.
