First Reformed UCC, Hamburg held its annual Vacation Bible School at the Hamburg Community Park this July.
The weather held out and the kids really enjoyed being outside. “Dinner is served!” could be heard each night since volunteers made the students a light dinner before each session began.
Their evening started off with the Bible lesson (on the lighter side since it was summer). Each lesson pertained to a story about water – for example, Noah and the Ark, Moses parting the Red Sea, or the Woman at the Well.
Crafts were a big success, especially the foam boat that can be taken into the tub!
Singing is always a big part of VBS and this year was no different. They learned “Jesus Loves Me” in sign language and all were intrigued.
The session ended with a performance by the students during the July 22 Sunday church service. You just have to love kids singing together – a priceless, joyful noise!
