ZooAmerica North American Wildlife Park of Hershey visited the Bethel-Tulpehocken Public Library on Aug. 14 to showcase some of its animal friends.
Lori Kruza, naturalist, brought five live animals from the zoo to dazzle and amaze the nearly 150 people who attended the hands-on program. Kruza played sounds of each animal and had the audience guess the animal before putting it on display. The most difficult sounds to identify were of the Madagascar hissing cockroach, striped skunk, and alligator. More easily identified sounds were an of an owl, (Barred owl who sings ”Hoo, Hoo, Hoo cooks for you all’) and a snake.
The ZooAmerica program was just one of many programs held throughout the summer as part of the Summer Reading Program. We also held our annual carnival on Aug. 11, complete with a juggler, bouncy house, games, and great food.
