David Kienle's yellow 2000 Ford Mustang GT was like a ray of sunshine as it entered the park for the auto show. Unfortunately it was the closest thing to a “ray of sunshine” that day, but the second place trophy that went home in that Mustang sure did have some “Bling!”

After utilizing their rain date for the first time in recent history, Shoemakersville Boy Scout Troop #163 sponsored their 20th Annual Car Show at Perry Township Recreation Area on Aug. 19.

About 50 drivers braved the rain and proudly displayed their vehicles. The 47 trophies were awarded across 27 classes, and a new category was introduced, the “Boy Scouts’ Choice” award, which was selected by the scouts themselves.

The Auto Show, which is customarily held on the second Sunday in August, was postponed from Aug. 12 due questionable field conditions and forecasted additional rains.

The event was organized by the Troop #163’s Committee and is sponsored by over 70 area businesses and organizations. It is the largest event of the year for Troop #163 and proceeds fund the scout troop activities for the upcoming year.

Mark your calendars for Aug. 11, 2019 for the 21st edition of the popular local event.
