Commissioner Christian Leinbach announced his intentions to seek another term in office last night before a crowd of Berks County friends, family, and special guests at the Abraham Lincoln Hotel, Reading. He also offered a live webcast where there was an opportunity for voters to interact in a question and answer session with the Commissioner.

Leinbach was first elected in 2007 as Commissioner and was again elected in 2011 when he was selected by his peers to serve as chair of this board.

He said, “In my nearly eight-years as Commissioner, we’ve seen many positive changes in our community and county government. The current board is regarded as highly professional and we have demonstrated the ability to work well together to the benefit of our residents. Berks County is fiscally strong, growing private sector jobs, and a leading voice for counties in state and national government.

Major projects that Commissioner Leinbach helped usher in and referred to with great pride are: the BARTA-Red Rose transportation merger, the AA+ bond rating that the County now enjoys, the 911 and emergency services merger, Bethel Park 78 economic development, and the 8-year freeze of Commissioners’ wages.

Commissioner Leinbach, his wife, Jennifer, and son, Will, live in Tilden Township, his Son, Matt is a Staff Sergeant with the NJ Air National Guard, and his daughter, Laura, and husband, live and work in the Lehigh Valley. The Leinbachs’ originally settled in the Oley Valley in 1723 and have called the County of Berks home ever since.

In closing, Commissioner Leinbach said, “I know that together we can continue working to make Berks County even better. That is why I am asking for your support to reelect me as your Berks County Commissioner.” The primary election is Tues., May 19, and the general election is Tues., November 3.
