Robeson Lutheran pastors celebrate ordination anniversaries

This week's BIG SHOT is of Pastors Michael Ware and Luther Routte, of Robeson Lutheran Church, who recently celebrated their 10th and 25th anniversaries, respectively, of their ordinations.

On Sunday, Nov. 10, the congregation of Robeson Lutheran Church was happy to share in the celebration of ordinations for their senior pastor, Rev. Michael Ware (10 years), and their associate pastor, Rev. Luther Routté (25 years).

The pastors were presented with cards and gifts of appreciation during the 10:15 a.m. service. A fellowship luncheon was held in their honor following the service.

Pastor Michael Ware was ordained on Nov. 29, 2003 after graduating from the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Gettysburg, where he did chaplaincy work at Lancaster General Hospital, interned at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Rhode Island and spent a year as an exchange student in Munich, Germany.

Prior to his call at Robeson Lutheran, Pastor Michael spent seven years serving a multi-church site in Upper Susquehanna Synod, along with his wife, Pastor Sonja Ware. Pastor Michael began serving as senior pastor at Robeson in December 2010. The congregation is happy to share in the celebration of his 10th anniversary of ordination.

Pastor Luther Routté came to the ministry in his 40s after a varied career in private business (including owning his own health food store) and public service in New York City. He attended the Philadelphia Lutheran Seminary and did his internship at Christ Lutheran Church in Reading. After completing his internship, he wanted to stay in this area; he commuted to Philly while working as chaplain at Penn State University’s Berks Campus.

After graduating and being ordained in 1988, he was gratified to receive a call as assistant pastor at Atonement Lutheran Church in Wyomissing where he specialized in youth ministry. Pastor Routté retired in 2007 and then re-entered pastoral ministry in 2009 when he joined Robeson Lutheran as associate pastor. The congregation is delighted to share in this important milestone as Pastor Routté celebrates his 25th anniversary of ordination.
