A crowded Grange Hall in Shartlesville welcomed more than 110 diners as the Shartlesville Lions Club held its annual free Thanksgiving dinner for senior residents of Upper Bern Township. Lions cooked and served the meal as guests, whether first-timers such as Mary and Ed Selesky, or returning folks like Marilyn and Merrill Hill, enjoyed themselves. Arlene Brown, who has attended the annual event more than five times summed it up be saying, ‘ I like the people. They’re friends of mine.’ And, she added, ‘The food.’
