Family, friends, community members and leaders gathered together on Saturday, Dec. 21, filling the streets of Oley for the town’s annual Christmas in the Valley.
This event, initated nearly two decades ago, invites folks to gather at different points to meet in the center of town to sing holiday songs together.
During the event, songs book and candles are passed throughout the crowd; cookies and hot chocolate are provided to participants and luminaries, candle bags, are set up along the streets of Oley.
“People don’t want the gathering to end,” said Krissi Swavery, creator of the event, explaining that many people continue the holiday gathering at their homes with family members.
This year, the event’s committee adopted a local family this year to support throughout the holiday seasons through food and presents.
