Rotary Club News: Students of Month honored at Farmers Night

Kutztown Rotary Club honored Katie Eigenbrod as its student of the month from the Kutztown Area High School on Feb. 5, at the Kutztown club’s Farmers Night celebration at the Kutztown Grange.

Katie is a senior and a member of the Future Farmers of America in the last two years, winning at third place in regional competition in agriculture, a second place in state competition and a silver award in the nationals. She is a member of the National Honor Society, a four-year cheerleader with the Cougar Award and a member of many clubs. She is a 12-year Girl Scout with activities at church and in dance, color guard and gymnastics. Katie plans to attend college majoring in mathematics and minoring in Spanish.

Kutztown Rotary Club also honored Cody Wessner as its student of the month from the Brandywine Heights Area High School at its Farmers Night celebration.

Cody is a senior and a member of the FFA for the last three years. He is athletic, playing on the Bullets soccer team for four years and being the MVP as a junior. Cody is also musical with four or more years participation in each of concert band, marching band and indoor drum line. Cody works for Wessner Lawn and Landscape. He plans to attend Pennsylvania College of Technology majoring in horticulture with an emphasis in landscaping.

Also during the Kutztown Rotary Club’s Farmers Night event, Fleetwood Rotary Club honored its student of the month, Courtney Brumbach, an Oley Valley High School senior. She is Vice President of FFA. She won third place in the Berks County FFA competition in public speaking. She is a member of the National Honor Society and Tri-M, the Music Honor Society. She plays viola. She is a member of the U.S. Equestrian Federation, U.S. Hunter/Jumper Association, and Eastern Pennsylvania Professional Horseman’s Association and she hunts and rides at the Valley Mist Farm. Courtney plans to major in agribusiness or equine business management.
