Pottstown Memorial Medical Center hosted a Curious Kids – First Responders and Safety Event on Saturday, May 17, where 125 kids received free bike helmets.

This event featured fun, interactive, and learning activities from Pottstown Memorial Medical Center’s Emergency department, Women’s and Children’s department, and Coventry Pediatrics. Children also had an opportunity to tour emergency medical responder vehicles from Pottstown Medical Transport, Pottstown Police Department, and the Pottstown Fire Department.

PMMC’s Emergency department held a Teddy Bear Clinic and provided information on Household Safety to children. Coventry Pediatrics also had kids participate in healthy food choice games and dental activities to help demonstrate the importance of a healthy lifestyle.

There were also other activities, such as face painting, bean bag toss, ring toss, bike helmet coloring contest, and a special character appearance from Elmo.

In addition to games and activities, parents could bring their child’s car seat to this event and receive individualized car seat safety checks by trained professionals, who taught parents the proper way to install a child car seat for infants and toddlers and gave hands on car seat evaluations.
