Birdsboro Elementary Center students wave American colors for Flag Day

In celebration of Flag Day, students at the Birdsboro Elementary Center hosted an assembly for their family, friends and neighbors. The gymnasium at the school was colored in red, white and blue decorations with the attendance donning their best Flag Day themed attire.

The students sang patriotic songs like “The Star-Spangled Banner,” “You’re a Grand Old Flag,” “America, the Beautiful,” “This Land is Your Land,” “50 Nifty United States,” and “I’m Proud to Be An American.”

Flag bearers Ethan Rissmiller and Joseph Hunt led the procession, with students Kendall Smathers and Brett Hartzell leading the recessional as flag bearers. Information on the National Anthem, Pledge of Allegiance, meaning of the Flag’s stripes and colors, History of Flag Day, origin of “I’m Proud to Be An American,” facts on the United States and interesting Flag facts were presented by student readers Kayla Kulp, Merrick Plaisance, Brett Hartzell, Antonio Rulli, Courtney McGrew, Colin Wagnew, Melissa Stockmal, Jacob Elognitis, Selena Miller and Classic Callada.
