Aug. 10 Narvon author Joel Moore will give a presentation titled “Boys of the Civil War” and sign copies of his books, set in the Civil War, in the conference room at Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site at 2 p.m.
J. Arthur Moore, author of historically researched Civil War fiction for young readers, will present the stories of some of the real boys from the Civil War in the weeks ahead. All programs are open free to the public.
On Saturday, August 2, he will present in the schoolhouse of the Pequea Valley Public Library in Intercourse, Pennsylvania, as part of its Civil War Living History encampment from 9AM till 4PM.
On the following weekend, Sunday August 10, he will present at the meeting of the Friends of Hopewell Furnace at 2PM in the conference building.
On Thursday, September 4, 2014, the presentation will be part of the Mill at Anselma lecture series held at the Montgomery School’s Bell Hall at 6:30PM, located at 1141 Kinberton Road, Chester Springs.
All programs consist of displays of artifacts familiar to the boys of the war, books about the boys including historic fiction based on the lives of some, a photo album and power point presentation, presentation board displays, and video clips of a combat description and the war in reflection by one who was a boy at the time. Books and a limited number of manuscripts will also be available for purchase and signing by Moore.
