Grandchildren’s Day at The Center At Spring Street takes ‘Take Me Out to the Ballgame’ theme

The Center at Spring Street invited their members to bring their grandchildren and great grandchildren of all ages to spend the day at the Center on Monday, Aug. 4.

This year’s theme was ‘Take Me Out to the Ballgame.’ The day was filled with fun games including Wii Baseball, Bean Bag Baseball Home Run Derby, shuffleboard, ping-pong, billiards, guessing games, baseball trivia, a special, fun meal, and a visit from ‘Screwball’ the Reading Fightin’ Phils mascot.

A variety of door prizes were donated by The Reading Fightin’ Phils, Michelle Docchio, and Gene Rohrbach. The day was a huge success with 160 in attendance.

The Center at Spring Street is a place for active older adults to gather for the purpose of socializing and keeping active. The Center provides a hot lunch at noontime and a variety of activities including exercise programs, Wii Bowling, shuffleboard, billiards, educational programs, Bingo Nite, Friday Nite Dance and more. T

he Center also offers volunteer opportunities in the kitchen, packing meals on wheels, clean up, and set up for special events. Bus transportation is also available for those unable to drive.
