Emelia Adam, a soon-to-be sixth grader in the Hamburg Area School District and daughter of Jeff and Tamra Adam, is jumping for joy after a busy spring and summer of twirling! She has traveled to several competitions throughout this twirling season including Pennsylvania States, Miss Majorette of Pennsylvania and Miss Majorette of North Atlantic Region. At each of these competitions Emelia qualified for more competitions at Notre Dame University.

During the week of July 19, Emelia had the opportunity to represent Pennsylvania in the Pre-Teen Grand National Championships, Pre-Teen Miss Majorette of America as well as compete in the open completion held at AYOP, America Youth on Parade. This completion is held yearly and is the world series of this sport. People travel from each state to compete against the best twirlers in America as well as Canada and Mexico. Twirlers were competing to qualify to represent and be a part of the USA World Twirling Team in Italy for 2015.

Emelia worked very hard and has obtained many personal goals and bests this season. While at AYOP, Emelia won the Intermediate National two-baton as well as the Intermediate National Flag baton. She placed 5th in the Advance National Open Solo age 10. This qualified her for a twirl-off at the end of the competition week. She competed against other twirlers in age 10, 11 and 12. Emelia place 15th in the twirl off! In addition to these accomplishments, she placed 6th in her Show Twirl routine to ‘Cruising’ from ‘Teen Beach Movie.’

Emelia travels to Maryland to be coached by Anna and Casey Bryant, coaches of her team, Class Act Twirlers. Her teammate, Michaela Dettinger, Feature Twirler at Lebanon Valley College practiced and twirled by Emelia’s side all season. Michaela also qualified to compete in Intermediate Miss Majorette of America Pageant by winning the Intermediate North Atlantic Pageant. She won both her National Strut and National solo for her division. She placed 6th in her College Down the Field routine. Michaela and Casey are both Emelia’s wonderful role models.

Emelia is a great student and plays soccer for the HASA club. Now that the competition season is over for the year, she is anxious to begin twirling for the high school band and start practicing for next year’s competitions!
