Chestnut Knoll Personal Care and Memory Care celebrated their 14th Anniversary on Saturday, September 6, with residents, families, staff, and community members all coming together to celebrate.

‘We are very proud of our achievements over our 14-year history, the biggest being celebrated is all the lives we have touched-literally thousands of lives in our small community and beyond!’ said Shawn Barndt, executive director. ‘We have accomplished many exciting things over the past 14 years, including raising over $130,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association, as well as reaching our fundraising goal for Relay for Life.’

The anniversary party kicked off with an old fashioned picnic, with hot dogs and hamburgers cooked on the grill, and Chestnut Knoll’s very own Chef Scott’s famous, homemade potato salad! The management team and volunteers all pulled together to work at the event and were able to serve over 300 guests in less than 60 minutes.

The picnic was followed by a recognition ceremony of staff members who are celebrating 10 years of service to the Chestnut Knoll community. Nine staff members were honored with engraved watches from EG Landis Jewelers for working over 10 years. Nineteen staff members who are celebrating 11-14 years were also recognized as being part of the President’s Club and they will be honored at a private luncheon in October.

A special recognition was given to the residents at Chestnut Knoll who have participated in the wellness program, Fox Optimal Living. Chestnut Knoll is celebrating this state-of-the-art program, which was started in July 2013 and has received national attention since then. Residents were acknowledged for their participation and accomplishments while being in the program.

Following the ceremonies, the Boyertown Alumni Ceremonial Band played to the crowd, which included members of the community who were invited to the outdoor concert. Cake was also served in celebration of the anniversary.

‘A special thanks to our staff members who really are the ones who make the exceptional quality of care happen every moment of each day. It takes a dedicated team to pull it all together, along with the commitment of the family members and support of the greater community,’ said Barndt.
