On Saturday, Sept. 27, BARCO hosted the second annual Barcoberfest in Boyertown Community Park where hundreds (of dogs and people) gathered to celebrate everything about dogs!

BARCO, which stands for Boyertown Area Responsible Canine Owners, will use the proceeds from the event to build a community dog park. Vicki Marsh, president, said the location of the dog park is still being considered, ‘we will be checking into the five hundred plus acres in Earl Township that Boyertown owns where the water reservoir is.’ Their goal is to raise $50,000.

Vendors and non-profit organizations came from all over to support a great cause. Puppies from Home At Last Dog Rescue in North Wales were available for adoption. On the right is Carla, a boxer mix puppy.

BARCO also held a Top Dog Contest with categories such as Smallest Dog, Best Dressed, Most Unique Name and more.

An off-leash play area was set up for dogs looking to stretch their paws and a K9 Police Demonstration was presented by Pottstown Police Deparment.
