Alexandra Diamond, Elverson, of Venturing Crew 23 in Chester County Council has earned the Venturing Silver Award.

Venturing is the coed division of the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women between the ages of 14 and 20, and that the Silver Award is equivalent to the Eagle Scout award for Boy Scouts.

There is a difference though: while Chester County Council recognized 191 Eagle Scouts last year, it should be noted that Alex is only the 15th recipient of the Silver Award in 17 years.

Diamond, who prefers to be called Alex, has been in the Venturing program since 2010. She was a founding member of Crew 56 before finding her permanent home with Crew 23 where she served as Vice President for 2 terms before becoming Crew President.

Alex has been exposed to a number of activities since she joined Venturing. She has become incredibly experienced in the outdoors, backpacking over 140 miles one summer, camping with little more than a hammock and a tarp, and kayaking the streams, lakes and rivers of Southeastern Pennsylvania. Alex is an avid caver and enjoys climbing as well. In 2011, Alex became a certified Leave No Trace Trainer, and has served on the Staff of Horseshoe Scout Reservation’s Camp Ware for the past 3 years where she most recently taught outdoor skills to Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts.

Alex is a 2014 graduate of Twin Valley High School and is considering enlistment in the Air Force where she aspires to be a part of the Space Operations program.

Alex’s Court of Honor will be held on Sunday, Oct. 19 at 3 p.m. at Central Presbyterian Church in Downingtown.
