Vicki Eastridge, lead housekeeper at Hickory House Nursing Home in Honey Brook, received Life Care Centers of America’s Northeast Division Whatever It Takes And Then Some Award on Sept. 24 for her dedication to customer service.

Executives from Life Care awarded Eastridge a $1,000 cash prize during an awards ceremony at the company’s headquarters in Cleveland, Tennessee. She was chosen from among thousands of associates in the Northeast Division and was one of only eight associates from Life Care’s more than 220 facilities nationwide to receive the award.

“Vicki is an integral part of the daily life of the residents,” said Mary Magner, executive director at Hickory House. “Her gift to the residents is her time and personal interest in them.”

For example, Eastridge buys seed and fills the bird feeders at the facility so residents can enjoy watching the birds out their windows. She also takes care of residents’ plants if they cannot water the plants themselves.

To help residents reminisce and bring up topics for conversation, Eastridge brings in The Fishwrapper, a local weekly newsletter that includes stories from days past. Then she talks to residents about the topics in that week’s issue.

“I love what I do, and I love our residents,” said Eastridge.

Life Care Centers of America’s Whatever It Takes And Then Some program rewards associates for extraordinary acts of kindness. Monthly awards are presented in Life Care facilities nationwide based on nominations from fellow associates, family members, residents and guests. Each facility then chooses an annual winner, from which the divisional winners are selected.

“Dedicated caregivers routinely go far above and beyond their job descriptions, and Vicki Eastridge certainly demonstrates by her example their professionalism and compassion for the residents they serve,” said Beecher Hunter, Life Care president. “We are proud of Vicki and the thousands she represents in their selfless approach to the needs of others.”

Hickory House Nursing Home is located at 3120 Horseshoe Pike.
