Hickory House is pleased to sponsor a gathering to hear the travel tales of C. Ivan Stoltzfus after his journey across America on Thursday November 20th, 2 p.m. on the Hickory House campus.

Raising funds for the Wounded Warrior project, C. Ivan Stoltzfus set off on a trip across the United States in his rebuilt Jonabilt tractor starting in April of 2014. Hickory House supported him with one of several kick off events. The goal of his trip was to raise a million dollars for the Wounded Warrior Project, a cause near and dear to C. Ivan. At the April 2014 kick off event, those who attended learned about C. Ivan’s dream and some of the obstacles he encountered pulling together his planned adventure including special permission from PENNDOT, to travel across the state in his tractor.

C. Ivan Stoltzfus, a local auctioneer and real estate broker, began dreaming about how he could do something meaningful to recognize and support the many heroes of the United States of America, the wounded men and women who have sacrificed for our nation’s freedom. He dreamt of a trip across America on a vehicle that would capture the attention and hearts of the American people.

With the help of the Waterloo Boys of Southeastern Pennsylvania they restored and retrofitted a 1948 John Deere Model A tractor. The tractor, nicknamed Johnabilt, because it is a John Deere tractor with a 1984 Peterbilt model 359 cab, was made ready for the long trek across the States with a goal to raise one million dollars for the Wounded Warrior Project. C. Ivan planned to tow a 24 foot camper so that he would truly be ‘on the road’ for his impressive journey.

On Nov. 20, at 2 pm in the Hickory House main dining room, Hickory House residents, staff and visitors from the local community are invited to come and hear about C. Ivan Stoltzfus’s trip.
