Fleetwood Girl Scout Brownie Troop 1793 planted mums at Willow Creek Elementary School in Fleetwood.
The girls planted mums along the building as well as around the sign along the road. The PTA provided a gift card from Esbenshades for the troop to use to purchase the plants. Each girl in the troop was asked to bring a spade and their own watering can to get the job done.
After the girls planted the mums, they had a snack in the shade while their leader, Kristin Santangelo, read them a story called “The Brownie Story” and they discussed how Brownie Girl Scouts are helpers and do things that others don’t see happening but they do good deeds just for the service of the deed.
They were reminded that each time they drive by the school and see the flowers they planted, they can get a sense of ownership in knowing that they were a part of making the school beautiful.
