Jacqueline Carroll, a high school senior at Fleetwood High School, has delivered her Girl Scout Gold Award Project to duPont Hospital in Delaware.
The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest level award a Girl Scout can earn which is equivalent to the Boy Scout Eagle Award.
Jacqueline led volunteers in learning how to cut, pin, and sew surgical caps and bouffant style hats. The project also included crayon bags filled with crayons, a notepad and stickers.
Jacqueline successfully delivered 100 surgical caps, 30 bouffant hats, 100 crayon bags, and 40 wrapped boxes containing precut patterns to “pay it forward”.
Her advisor, Laura Mitchell, was very excited to receive so many caps. She said this project coordinates nicely with the new Disney character of Doc McStuffins. The children at the hospital are excited to be able to keep their cap and play along with one of their favorite characters on Disney Channel.
