You and your Valentine (and don’t forget the rest of the family) can enjoy a unique Valentine’s Day experience. Indulge in a chocolate enhanced buffet menu and become acquainted with the site and the people of Historic Joanna Furnace.

“This event is so fitting as a Valentine’s Day destination. Joanna Furnace is a love story in and of itself. You see, the iron furnace was actually named after Joanna Potts in 1791. John Potts, of one of the early owners, lovingly named the furnace community after his wife,” said Mark Zerr, Executive Director for Joanna Furnace and the Hay Creek Valley Historical Association.

Imagine enjoying a breakfast reminiscent of the breakfasts served in the historic furnace homes. The menu consists of fresh country sausage, ham, scrapple, bacon, creamed chipped beef, eggs, pancakes, hash browns, toast, coffee, juice and fresh fruit accompanied by a fabulous chocolate dip. This extraordinary menu awaits area Valentine’s Day celebrants at the 2015 Valentine’s Day Breakfast Buffet at Historic Joanna Furnace. Saturday, February 14 from 7 am to 11 am, visit Historic Joanna Furnace and indulge in this delicious chocolate enhanced menu.

“We have something for everyone in the family, including the kids,” continues Mark Zerr. “The merriment of families starting off their Valentine’s Day brings something special to the Valentine’s breakfast, as does our chocolate fountain. It not only looks delicious and tastes great but the chocolate aroma makes it even more tempting! And, it will make the kids literally beg to eat fruit, fresh strawberries and pineapple, after they dip them in the chocolate. I think we’ve found the perfect way to get kids to eat fruit . . . they love it.”

The Valentine ambiance will be enhanced by Berks area vocalist Phyllis Hummel. She will entertain the breakfast diners with acoustical guitar and a variety of romantic ballads. Ms. Hummel is a familiar face to the local music scene. She has been performing for more than twenty years in the Tri-County area and has been featured performer at many area establishments.

Selected upcoming Joanna Furnace/HCVHA breakfast events include: The HCVHA Irish Breakfast Buffet, March 15; Chicken Pot Pie and New England Clam Chowder Soup Sale March 26, Car Cruise Breakfast and Chicken BBQ, June 21 and July breakfast, July 19. More details on these events will be released in the upcoming months.

No reservations are required for the breakfast buffet. Admission is charged, those under 5 eat free.
