More than 300 students, staff and faculty are expected at the 5th annual Kutztown University Boxer Trot, sponsored by Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, on Thursday, April 16, outside of the McFarland Student Union Building. Activities begin at 10 a.m. and the race begins at 3 a.m. All proceeds benefit the fraternity’s national charitable partner, the Children’s Miracle Network.

Since 2010, the Boxer Trot, (formerly named the Undie Run), has entertained the thousands of the KU campus community while raising more than $5,400 for the Children’s Miracle Network, the international non-profit organization that raises funds for children’s hospitals, medical research and community awareness of children’s health issues.

Participants race about 1/2 mile around campus in undergarments or in costumes to raise funds for the charity. Sigma Alpha Epsilon brothers raise funds from sponsors, by selling “Boxer Trot” apparel before and at the event, and through the generosity of the Kutztown community.

“When we first started in 2010, the administration was very cautious,” said Cole Davidheiser, this year’s event director. “I think they were worried about runners either streaking or other misbehavior,” Davidheiser said. “Over the years, though, everyone has grown to realize this event benefits the kids in the Children’s Miracle Network. And it’s a bit of fun for the spring for everyone.”
