Brandywine Heights High School 2014 graduate Taylor Ray Renninger, Macungie, will be recognized at the 2015 Eagle Scout Recognition Dinner on May 21.
The Boy Scouts of America, Hawk Mountain Council sponsors the annual event. Eagle Scout Taylor was bestowed this award and joined the Brotherhood of Eagle Scouts. The Eagle Scout Award is the epitome of Scouting’s best efforts and beliefs.
Eagle Scout Taylor R. Renninger was awarded Eagle Rank February 2014. Taylor’s Eagle Scout Court of Honor was held May 18, 2014 at Huff’s Union Church, Alburtis. Taylor was honored at an elaborate ceremony and reception culminating his twelve years in scouting. The candle lighting ceremony involved his troop (Boy Scout Troop 510), his scoutmasters, troop leaders, the Reverend Jane Moffat Kropa, state and county political officials, chartered organizations, his family and his friends. Taylor received a congratulatory note from President Obama and a USA flag from Congressman Charlie Dent that flew over the Capitol building in Harrisburg, PA to name a few. Taylor spoke at his ceremony stating that his twelve-year scouting journey has been an important part of his life. The many adventures, life lessons and scouting experiences have prepared him for his future. He thanked everyone who has walked along with him during his climb up The Trail to Eagle. His reception dinner was enjoyed by everyone and included memorabilia from his years in scouting.
Taylor started his journey through scouting as a Tiger Cub, reached the summit, and achieved Eagle rank. Taylor’s Trail to Eagle started in 2002 in Cub Scout Pack 575 of Longswamp Township as he moved through the ranks and in 2014 received his Eagle Award with Boy Scout Troop 510 of Topton, PA. Taylor earned 28 merit badges on his way to Eagle Scout.
Taylor’s Eagle Scout Service Project was a four-season landscape design benefitting the American Legion – Ray A. Master Post 217 in Topton, PA. He wanted to give back to the American Legion for all their support they give to his Boy Scout Troop 510 and our community.
Taylor graduated from Brandywine Heights High School in 2014 with Distinction for his 54 hours of Community Service to The American Legion Post 217 in Topton for his Eagle Scout Project. Taylor was a member of the golf team for four years and lettered in that sport. He also worked in his community as a lifeguard, snowboard instructor and banquet server. Taylor is attending Colorado Technical University (CTU) in Colorado Springs majoring in Computer Science earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Science.
Earning Eagle Rank is an occasion for pride and joy, as well as a time for serious reflection. The Eagle Scout Award is the highest recognition of rank that the Boy Scouts of America offers to Scouts. It is recognition by the National Court of Honor, presented through Hawk Mountain Council, and a local court of honor. It is earned through the advancement program, and only a small percentage of boys who begin Scouting receive this honor.
