Local students are ‘changing the world with kindness.’

This year Exeter’s Reiffton School students wanted to focus on supporting the Child Life Services Program at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. They decided to show this support by doing a ‘Pay it Forward’ Initiative in the form of a donation drive to collect items needed for the program.

“The kids were all inspired by the fight of one of our own students who received medical treatment at CHOP last year and starred in a video featured on The Today Show!” said Darlene Hamilton, a Reiffton APT Member. “He is happy to be back at Reiffton enjoying his 6th grade year with his classmates but grateful for what the program offers for kids that need treatment while they are there.”

The Child Life department at CHOP uses age-appropriate education, preparation and supportive activities to minimize stress and help children and their families cope positively with their healthcare experience.

The kids, Teachers and families all collected items like school supplies, art and craft supplies, games, puzzles, toys, scrap book supplies and candy. Marc Goldstein of Blankets of Hope and Klingers on Carsonia of Mount Penn donated enough money to purchase 350 blankets that will be given to the kids at the hospital as well. The donations will be taken to CHOP in June.
