A swimming safety class is being held for members of Amputees on the Move at The Heritage of Green Hills in Shillington.

Amputees on the Move is a support group for area residents who have lost limbs. The safety class was designed to encourage amputees to engage in an activity many thought they no longer could. The group meets at The Heritage once per month, and founder Tony Petro says the swimming safety class is just one example of how the organization is striving to provide more than just moral support for amputees.

“We want to show amputees that there are plenty of things we can still do,” said Petro, who lost his left leg below the knee to diabetes. “Dancing, golfing – even swimming.”

The swimming safety class was attended by amputees ranging in age from early teens to mid-seventies. For more information about Amputees on the Move, contact Tony Petro at 610-763-3489.
