Shrimp Night: last Monday of month 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. There is a charge. Open to public. Cash bar available, must be 21 to drink. This event is smoke free. Takeout is available.

Country Line Dancing: second Fridays. Doors/kitchen open at 6 p.m. Dance from 7 to 10:30 p.m. in the Banquet Hall. There will be a DJ playing the best country music and a cash bar will be available. Must be 21 to enter.

Oct. 23Historic Dieffenbach Organ Recital: By Adam Dieffenbach with Minister of Music Kevin Kline. Friedens Church Shartlesville, 28 Wolf Creek Road, Shartlesville. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., recital begins at 7 p.m. Adam is the descendant of the organ’s original builder. The recital is to help for the repair and maintenance of Dieffenbach organs located in Berks County. No admission, but a freewill offering will be taken. Hamburg SDA and Peebles Fashion Show: The Hamburg Seventh-Day Adventist Community Service Center is partnering with Peebles for a Fashion Show at 11 a.m. Proceeds will be going to the Community Service Center for purchases made at time of the event. Ladies from the community will be modeling that day.

Oct. 26Author Elizabeth Shanks Book Signing: 9:15 a.m. at Perry Elementary School, 201 4th Street, Shoemakersville. Shanks, a resident of Glen Rock, will be available to sign copies of her book Momma, Will I Ever? Oct. 27Hamburg High School Band Performance: The Hamburg HS Concert Band will perform side-by-side with the historic Ringgold Band. Guest soloist will be Kimberly Reighley, Principal Flutist of the Delaware Symphony Orchestra. Performance will be held in the Hamburg Area High School auditorium at 7 p.m.

Nov. 1534th Dachshund Dog Show: Dachshund Fanciers Association of Berks County will host its 34th independent specialty show at the Berks County Community Center, 1206 County Welfare Road, Leesport. Three varieties (smooth, wire and longhair) in both miniature and standard sizes will be shown. The dogs will be vying for American Kennel Club points toward their AKC championship and for the ultimate Best of Breed. Spectators can attend from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Free of charge. Parking is free. DFABC will be serving a home made lunch at minimal cost and club members will man the “Dachshund Boutique” where you can find that dachshund “must have” for your collection.
